This photo was taken flowing glacial waters of Gošafoss* (Waterfall of the Gods) cutting through an 8000 year old lava field.
The name of the falls is the result of the decision in 1000 for Iceland to become a Christian Nation, forbidding the practice of paganism. All pagan idols were to be tossed into the waterfall, thus resulting in its present name. |
