This photo was taken of part of the Hot Springs flowing from the nearby Laugahrum lava field in Landmannalaugar.
Landmannalaugar lies 600 m above sea level, and is the second largest geothermal field in Iceland. The unique shapes and colours of the peaks are created by rhyolite - a combination of minerals metamorphosed by geothermal and volcanic activity.
Landmannalaugar is located within the Fjallabak (Behind the Mountains) Nature Reserve. |
