This photo was of the steaming lava landscape, leading up to the Laugahrum* lava field in Landmannalaugar*.

Landmannalaugar lies 600 m above sea level, and is the second largest geothermal field in Iceland. The unique shapes and colours of the peaks are created by rhyolite - a combination of minerals metamorphosed by geothermal and volcanic activity.

Landmannalaugar is located within the Fjallabak* (Behind the Mountains) Nature Reserve.
